About

A Bit About Dawn

I like to say I come by this work naturally. Most of my work and experiences throughout my life have given me the skills to help others realize their goals for their homes and work places. It’s my journey as well. I am perpetually redesigning my environments and planning my next project. My goal is to create highly functioning and uplifting spaces that bring us home – home to ourselves.

My Journey

As a girl, I was interested in home design early. I remember wanting a different look for my bedroom for each of the four seasons. My parents were pretty good about it, I didn’t noticed them smirking or rolling their eyes (I ended up with two looks by the way). Thirty years later, I opened an organic bedding store called Resthouse, and needless to say, I currently have quite a few bedding looks to rotate throughout the seasons. Full circle indeed.

As creative director, my experience at Resthouse (2014–2021) also taught me about the necessity of keeping all aspects of the business organized as well as creating beautiful, inviting displays. My styling abilities were further strengthened from designing our showroom to feel like you stepped into a welcoming and peaceful home.

I’ve always worked in retail, and merchandising and tweaking displays are deeply embedded in my DNA. I spent over twenty years as a purchaser/ merchandiser at Banyen Books in Vancouver, where I honed my ability to make products shine. I enjoyed every minute of it, and through working there, became interested in Feng Shui (the ancient Chinese art of placement), which brought me to certify at the Blue Mountain Institute in Seattle.

Feng Shui, simply put, is the study of nature, and how we can apply those principles to living in our indoor dwellings. This knowledge gave me a deeper understanding of how to keep in balance the diverse functions our environments need to serve. Understanding flow, also opened my eyes to observing how energy moves throughout our living spaces.

My mother was a real estate stager for 12 years and I apprenticed with her when I first moved to Vancouver Island. She was a master at finding ways to make ordinary decor look high-end, and taught me to first use what was available at hand. She instilled in me the importance of staging as a means to help sell swiftly and to earn more. She had an incredible eye for detail, and I can only hope to express that ability even a fraction of what she could.

Creating beauty and harmony in spaces has been a thread throughout my life. The work I do with clients now utilizes all those skills I’ve picked up along the way. Helping folk realize their highest goals for their dwellings -and life- bring me the greatest satisfaction and joy. It’s my calling to help others in this way.

I look forward to working together.

My Approach

My ideal client is ready for positive change. They are interested in tapping into their heartfelt aspirations and willing to work towards a home that supports a full and juicy life. Transforming a space with this principle at the core of every decision, ensures your dwelling reflects everything back to you, and you will have a much greater chance of succeeding. This work can be hard and tiring, but with a professional at your side, you’ll be pleased with what we can achieve together. You’ll get the results that you want.
